The boys started school Monday Aug 15th.
They weren't excited at all. But after the first day
they both said, "I love school this year!"
Both are very happy with their teachers.
Every morning I have forgotten to get
pictures of them, so just scroll past
old pictures and you can see them.
Christina starts school on Aug 31st.
Mike scheduled a trip to Greensboro NC
to show his boss and several coworkers how to
put together and fix equipment that only he knows
how to do. It is from his former company, Philips.
It would be an exciting trip for us because Bristol TN
is 30 min away, and NASCAR is racing there on
Sat night. We could go to the race!!
Also nearby is Mikes ancestors area. Tipton.
We planned on touring the area and visiting some museums.
My brother Frank came over to watch the boys
Sunday and Monday nights, then Christina would
watch them the rest of the time.
Sunday afternoon we rented a Chrysler 300.
It was fun being back in that car!
Mike and I drove to Savannah GA. for our
stopping point.
We got in about 7, checked into the hotel in
the heart of downtown.
The entire downtown is wonderful walking.
We walked down several blocks to the River.
It is lined with restaurants and bars.
We walked all over downtown before deciding
on a restaurant. The southern shrimp and grits
was the bomb!
We woke up Monday morning early to head to
Greensboro. As we watched the news we saw this:
We decided that since the training could wait, we would
head home in case Hurricane Irene hits Florida, or hits
the Carolinas. We didn't want to be away from the kids
and possibly stuck in an unfamiliar place should it hit
anywhere near us.
Mike ended up getting a service call for Coral Springs FL
so we walked around downtown Savannah one more time while
looking for a place for breakfast. (Goose Feathers, so good!)
We drove 6 hours south to Delray Beach to our
fav hotel in the area.
We spent the evening out in Delray's downtown
and then to the beach.
(things we don't do when the kids are with us)
Mike worked in the AM and then we headed home.
Not the trip we had planned, but it was still a lot of fun.
As is our Motto:
"Life is an adventure, lets make the most of it."
